How it works
Off until you touch it.

Touch the toolbar. You’re drawing.
Hover the handle and the bar slides out. Touch any tool, colour or weight and the whole screen becomes your canvas. Or press ⌥⇧D.

Hit the red button. Clicks are back.
One glowing stop button, the only control that has to be unmistakable. Press it and the ink clears and your apps get their clicks again.

The pen
Ink, not marker.
Most screen-drawing tools give you a line of one width. LivePen’s pen reads pressure from a tablet, or your speed from a mouse, so strokes swell and taper like real ink. It reads as handwriting, not as a highlighter left in the sun.
Shape style
Hand-drawn, different every time.
Lines, boxes, ellipses, icons and arrowheads come out a little wobbly, like you drew them on a whiteboard. Each shape keeps its own wobble, so nothing shimmers when you undo. Prefer clean geometry? Switch to Smooth.

Graphics tablets
Bring your Wacom.
Tested on a Wacom Intuos Pro with a Pro Pen 3. Full pressure range from the first stroke, and the barrel buttons work with no setup. If your driver reports the pen as a mouse, LivePen notices the pressure changing and believes it anyway.
Mapped a pen button to a keystroke? Click Record in Preferences and press the button. LivePen listens for exactly what your driver sends.

Never locked out
Three ways out. Always.
While you draw, the canvas covers the whole screen, menu bar and Dock included. That’s only safe if getting out can’t fail, so there are three independent exits and none depends on the others.

The toolbar
It lives inside the drawing layer, so the canvas can never cover it. The stop button is always clickable.

The hotkey
Press ⌥⇧D. It works whichever app is in front, and never clashes with your usual ⌘ shortcuts.

Auto-release
Leave it alone for two minutes and drawing stops by itself. Pick 30 seconds up to 10 minutes, or turn it off.

Which Macs does it run on? +
LivePen is a macOS app. It draws on your primary display.
Does it work with Zoom, Meet, Teams, Keynote, OBS? +
Yes. LivePen draws on the screen itself, so anything that shares or records your screen shows the ink. There is no plugin and no integration to set up.
Will it get in the way when I’m not drawing? +
No. Until you start drawing, every click passes straight through to the app underneath. Only the small handle on the screen edge responds to the pointer.
Can I keep my drawing when I stop? +
Yes. Stopping clears the screen by default. Switch Preferences → When drawing stops to “Keep the drawing” and your ink and undo history come back the next time you start.
Do I need a graphics tablet? +
No. With a mouse or trackpad the pen simulates pressure from your speed, so strokes still taper. A tablet gives you real pressure from the first stroke.
Does LivePen collect anything? +
No. There is no account and no tracking. The app goes online for two things only: checking your licence and checking for updates. Your drawings exist on your screen and nowhere else.
How much does it cost? +
It’s free for 14 days with everything on. After that it’s $12 a year, or $29 once for lifetime.
Can I change the shortcuts and colours? +
Yes. Every global shortcut can be re-recorded in Preferences, and the palette on the toolbar is editable.
